Dance @ HOME
I’m Melody, the dancers know me as Ms Melody ☺️ I’m glad we have this feature available so we can all get to know each other a little more!
I grew up in Ontario, actually 3 blocks away from where I live now... Crazy right! My children go to the same school I went to as a child. I have 3 kids- Arielle, Mikaylah, Zaiden & have been married for almost 15 years now.
Dance has always been a special place for me. As a child I grew up dancing with the community center & actually took class in my teacher's garage! When I was in Jr High I was a part of my school's Dance/Drill team and also started learning how to play musical instruments.
In High school I was on the cheer team, took dance classes, and was in the marching band- I played the TUBA! When I went to college I joined the cheer team & was able to travel ALL over for competitions- even went to Florida for College Nationals! During my college years I started coaching at Colony & Ontario High School!
Eventually I started working at Disneyland as a performer in the Entertainment Department. I also had the pleasure of being hired to work in Japan at Tokyo Disneyland during 2009-2010. My love for performing has never died & I LOVE that I am able to help mold the next generation of performers.
Regardless of what your student's future holds, dance has so much to offer!
That's a little about me- I can't wait to hear more about YOU 💜
Hello everyone 🤗
My name is Robyne(Robin). Some of you know me as one of your fellow spotlight dancer's (Dariane & Dareia) mom, but starting in April you will come to know me as Ms. Robyne! I will be leading the praise dance ministry here at Spotlight!!! Growing up, dance was my safe haven. It kept me out of trouble and focused on the right things. In the dance world I was what you called a late starter. I didn't take a real dance class until the age of 11 but danced all the time with my family. But boy when I started taking dance classes I loved it and was really good at it. At the age of 12 I joined my church's (Faithful Central Bible Church) praise dance ministry while perfecting my craft. I then went to a performing arts high school (Alexander Hamilton High) to pursue dance more seriously. As I grew as a dancer technically during school, I was a teen leader of the praise dance ministry at church. My family went through a very rough time in that season. We had 4 family deaths in a matter of 6 months. It was a very emotional time for me, but what brought me hope was that praise dance ministry. When I couldn't speak I let movement and the word of God hold me up. When all my family was in a rut I had my praise dance sisters to pray for me and show me the love of Christ. I grew older and started a family of my own and slowed down dancing, but the passion never died. To this day, anytime I'm going through a rough time and I feel like I don't have the words to pray, I turn on my worship music and let the spirit lead me in dance. More recently I joined my current church (Abundant Living Family Church) dance ministry and it has ignited the fire God gave me in my youth. At the beginning of 2020 God gave me a word that I would go back to leading praise dance but I had no clue where that would be. Who knew it was somewhere I already a part of. I'm so grateful God placed my name on Melody's heart. I pray that I can be a beacon of light to these young ladies. Teaching them the fundamentals of praise dance and pouring God's word into their lives. For such a time as this! During this Covid-19 pandemic we will praise the Lord in dance!🙏🏾
Hi everyone, I’m Ashlyn Taylor. The students call me miss Ashlyn or Miss Ash 😋
i’ve been a dance instructor at SpotlightUnlimited for a Little over 5 years now, and I consider this place like a second home and family! Starting in April I will not only be teaching your kids but you will also have a chance to take my adult fitness classes, I’m super excited for that because fitness is a huge part of my life. If I’m not at the studio I’m usually at the gym.
I’ve been dancing pretty much All my lifel, but didn‘t Start intense dance Training till I was a sophomore in high school. I went to Colony and I was captain of the song team and dance team for three years. I also joined theatre my junior year of high school and regretted not doing it all the other years, because it was so much fun.
Another fun fact about me is I’m obsessed with anything outdoors, I love going to the beach, surfing, and hiking. I suffer from pretty bad asthma which is funny to me since all the things I enjoy doing require great lungs 😂 but that doesn’t stop me from doing the things that I love.
Im also a HUGE animal lover which is ironic because in kindergarten I was attacked by a dog at a neighbors bbq. I was in the hospital for a pretty long time and was almost held back. I had to get stitches on my face, and a slight form of plastic surgery, luckily my scars aren’t too bad. This attack didn’t keep me from loving animals surprisingly. If I could have a farm in my backyard I totally would 🐄
But anyways, I hope this gave you a little something To learn about me.
I pray I get to see all the kids real soon. I miss each of them so much! 💛
It’s Francésca also known as Ms.Francésca but my nickname that I liked to be called is Césca (Chesca)!
Growing up I was very shy and quiet child who kept to myself and I was such an introvert, I liked to sing and draw that was my thing. But I always wanted to dance and take dance classes as a kid but I was extremely uncoordinated and awkward so I didn’t want to embarrass myself so I never took class. Thankfully as I got older I was determined to dance and be a dancer on my high school dance/drill team at West Covina High, with a lot of hard work and dedication I made the team. During my time on the dance team I performed in a Super Bowl Half time show, competed as a soloist, won multiple awards and became a team captain. My senior year I also started coaching our junior high dance team and I started choreographing solo’s for my fellow team mates.
After high school I attend Mount San Antonio college as a dance major and music minor. In addition to dancing in college I joined a couple of different hip hop dance companies. During my years college I worked a bunch of different jobs I continued coaching my old dance team and junior high team, worked at Starbucks, coached cheer and taught at my first dance studio. A few years later after college I got hired at the happiest place on earth Disneyland, I got hired in the entertainment department as dancer in the parades and shows. I worked at Disneyland for two years in 3 different parades Parade of Dreams, Pixar Play Parade and the Main Street Electrical Parade and 2 different shows Fantasmic and High Musical 3.
Even though I absolutely loved working at Disneyland my schedule was so crazy busy that I never had time to dance, take dance classes or perform and I really missed that part of my life. So it took some time but I eventually was able to make teaching dance my career and I have never looked back. But I do like to keep busy because it keeps me sane, so while teaching a already kinda full work schedule I worked as dancer at Knott’s Berry Farm for a two month contract for their spring time show Party in the park. While working at Knott’s Berry Farm I was a featured dancer on the Fox 11’s morning news show Good Day LA. As of this year on March 7th I have been working at Spotlight Unlimited Studio for six years now and they aren’t just my coworkers they are family to me.
I’m appreciative and so grateful for dance it into my life and changed me forever! Dance has helped grow as a person, come out of shell and find confidence within myself. I can’t wait to come back to see my Spotlight family, I miss and love you all.
